Question

A, B, C are three persons each having 3 coins. A has 3 normal coins, B has 2 normal coins and 1 DH coin and C has one normal coin and 2 DH coins. They toss their coins in order (A–B–C) indefinitely until first one who gets all 3 heads, wins the game. If P(A), P(B) and P(C) are their respective chances of winning the game then

 P(C) + P(A) < P(B)

P(A) + P(B) > P(C)

P(A)=(843)

P(C)=(2243)

Solution

P (AH) = probability of getting A all 3 heads

=18

P(A¯ H)=78

similarly

⇒   P(BH)=14, (B¯ H)=34

⇒p(CH)=12,p(CH¯)=12]

P(A) → A wins

P(A)=18+78×34×12×18+(78×34×12)2×18..............=181−2164=813

P(B)=78×14+(78×34×12)×78×14+........=78×141−2164=1443

P(C)=78×34+12  + (78×34×12)×78×34×12..........

=21641−2164=2143

P(A) + P(B) + P(C)
