A leak in the bottom of a tank can empty it in 6 hr. A pipe fills the tank at 4 L/min. When the tank is full, the inlet is opened, but due to the leak the tank is emptied in 8 hr. What is the capacity of the tank?

Solution
Total water poured by the inlet pipe = 4 × 8 × 60 = 1920 L
water is emptied by leak in 2hr = 960 L/hr
capacity of the tank = 960 × 6 = 5760 L
