Question

Calculate the speed at which the flow of water in a long cylindrical pipe of diameter 2cm becomes turbulent. Assume that the temperature is 20°C, so the viscosity h at this temperature = 1.0 × 10–3Pa.s. Critical reynolds number is 3000 for flow in a long cylindrical pipe.

In terms of the reynolds number, the flow speed v = (ηR) / (ρd).Rcritical = 3000 for flow in a long
cylindrical pipe.
After substituting the values
vcritical = 0.15 m/s
