b'The given sentence in the direct speech is in the simple present tense, therefore as per the rule, it should be converted to simple past form.

Option A here is the correct answer as it expresses the sentence in the past tense and indirect speech,
Options B and D use the present sentence in the second part of the sentence hence are incorrect.
In option C the first part of the sentence is not in indirect speech as the perspective of the sentence remains the same. Hence is incorrect.

Correct answer is option A.
