Diameter of a cylindrical vessel is 60cm. It is filled with water such that a sphere of diameter 30cm. is mersed fully into it. Then what is the increase in height of the water surface after putting the sphere in the vessels.

We have, 
Radius of the cylindrical vessel  = 30 cm
Radius of the sphere    = 15 cm
Volume of the sphere =43π×(15)3cm3
Suppose water level rises by h cm in the cylindrical vesel, Then, volume of the cylinder of height h cm and  radius 30 cm = (π ×(30)2 × h) cm3
Clearly, volume of the water displaced by the sphere is equal to the volume of the sphere
π×(30)2×h=43π×(15)3
h=43π×15×15×15π×30×30
h = 5 cm
