Given that on dividing 2053, there is a remainder of 5.
This means that 20535=2048 is exactly divisible by the required number.
Similarly, 9677=960 is exactly divisible by the required number.
2048=2×2×2×2×2×2×2×2×2×2×2 
=211
and 960=2×2×2×2×2×2×3×5 
=26×3×5 
The smallest common power in both prime factorization =26.
=2×2×2×2×2×2=64
So, H.C.F =64.
