Question

For non-negative integers n, let

f(n)=∑k=0nsin(k+1n+2π)sin(k+2n+2π)∑k=0nsin2(k+1n+2π)

Assuming cos–1x takes values in [0, π], which of the following options is/are correct?

Limn→∞f(n)=12

f(4)=32

sin (7cos–1 f(5)) = 0

If α = tan (cos–1 f(6)), then α2+2α–1 = 0

Solution

f(n)=∑k=0n(cos(πn+2)−cos (2k+3n+2)π)∑k=0n(1−cos (2k+2n+2)π)

f(n)=(n+2) cos (πn+2)−(∑k=0ncos (2k+3n+2)π)(n+1)−(∑k=0ncos (2k+2n+2)π)

f(n)=(n+1) cos (πn+2)−(sin ((n+1)πn+2)sin (πn+2) · cos (n+3n+2)π)(n+1)−(sin ((n+1)πn+2)sin (πn+2) · cos (2(n+2)π2(n+2)))

f(n)=(n+1)cos (πn+2)+cos (πn+2)(n+1)+1 ⇒g(x)=cos (πn+2)

(A) sin(7cos−1(cosπ7))=sinπ=0

(B) f(4)=cosπ6=32

(C) Limn→∞cos(πn+2)=1

(D) α=tan(cos−1cosπ8)=2−1⇒α+1=2

⇒ α2 + 2α + 1 = 0.
