A sentence is in active or passive voice depending on whether its verb is in active or passive voice. A verb is in active voice when its form shows that the subject does something. A verb is in passive voice when something is done to the subject. In passive voice, the doer of the action may appear in the phrase, "by .....". This could be one easy way of identifying a sentence in passive voice. However, in some cases, this phrase is omitted.
The correct option is A. In option A, "little drops of water" is the subject. Here the subject does something i.e. "form" a mighty ocean. Hence, it is in the active voice and option A is correct.
In option B, "Handicraft items" is the subject, which are "sold" in the fair. The action is done to the subject. Note the phrase, " by the tribals" indicating the tribals as the doer of the action. Hence, this sentence is in the passive voice. Option B is incorrect.
In option C, "He" is the subject. He was"scolded". i.e. an action is performed on the subject. Note the phrase, "by his school teacher" indicating the school teacher as the doer of the action. Hence, this sentence is in the passive voice. Option C is incorrect.
In option D, "the invitations" is the subject. They were "posted". Here, the sentence does not carry the phrase, "by ......" -it is omitted. However, the action ("posted") is done on the subject ("the invitations"). Hence, this sentence is in the passive voice. Option D is incorrect.
