Given AP is 4, x₁, x₂, x₃, 28. Clearly a = 4 and T₅ = 28.

Now, T₅ = 28 ⇒ a + 4d = 28 ⇒ 4 + 4d = 28 ⇒ 4d = 24 ⇒ d = 6.

$∴$ x₃ = T₄ = (a + 3d) = (4 + 3 × 6) = 22.
