Question

Let f : (0, ∞) → R be a differentiable function such that  f '(x) = 2 – f(x)x for all  x ∈ (0, ∞)  and  f (1) ≠ 1. Then

Limx→0+xf(1x)=2

Limx→0+x2f'(x)=0

| f (x) | ≤ 2 for all x ∈ (0, 2)

Limx→0+f'(1x)=1

Solution

f'(x)=2−f(x)x

x f ' (x) + f (x) = 2x

ddx(x  f(x))=2x

x f (x) = x2 + C

f(x)=x+Cx        f(1) ≠ 1     C≠ 0

(A)       Limx→ 0+  f '  (1x)=Limx→ 0+  (1−Cx2)=1    ⇒   (A) is correct

(B)        Limx→ 0+  x f(1x)=Limx→ 0+  (1+Cx2)=1      ⇒     (B) is incorrect

(C)       Limx→ 0+  x2 f '  (x)=Limx→ 0+  x2(1−Cx2)=−C≠ 0      ⇒     (C) is incorrect

(D)        |f(x)|=| x+Cx |=  |x|+|C||x|≤2   |C| depends on C.
