Question

Let O be the origin and let PQR be an arbitrary triangle. The point S is such that

OP→ · OQ→+OR→ · OS→=OR→ · OP→+OQ→ · OS→=OQ→ · OR→+OP→ · OS→.

Then the triangle PQR has S as its

circumcentre

orthocenter

Solution

Let p.v.s of P, Q, R & S be p→, q→, r→ & s→

∴p→ · q→+ r→ · s→=r→ · p→+ q→ · s→

⇒  p→ · (q→ − r→)+s→ · (r→−q→)=0⇒  (p→ − s→) · (q→−r→)=0

Similarly (q→ − s→) · (r→−p→) = 0

∴ Point S (s→) is orthocentre of DPQR.
