Vector Triple Product
Question

Let  x,y  and  z be three vectors each of magnitude 2 and the angle between each pair of them is π3. If a is a nonzero vector perpendicular to x  and   y×z  and  b is a nonzero vector perpendicular to y and z×x, then

a·b=(a·y)(b·z)

 a=(a·y)(yz)

 a=(a·y)(zy)

b=(b·z)(zx)

Solution

 a=λ[x×(y×z)]=λ[(x·z)y(x·y)z]

 a=λ[yz]

take dot product with y

 a·y=λ[y·zy·z]  λ=a·y

 a=(a·y)(yz)

 IIIly  b=μ[y×(z×x)]=μ[(y·x)z(y·z)x]

 b=μ(zx)

take dot product with  z,we  get  µ=b·z

 b=(b·z)(zx)

 and   a·b=(a·y)(b·z)
