Pygmalion is being talked about in the sentence and, as indicated by the verb was, does the work in the sentence. Hence, Pygmalion is the subject of the sentence. The rest is what is being said about the subject, i.e., the predicate. Option D is only one where the subject and the predicate are arranged in correct order making perfect sense and meaning. Furthermore, the two clauses, Pygmalion was the king of Cyprus, and, a very talented sculptor of a village named Acanthus make perfect sense by themselves, more so when they are put in that order. Thus, Option D is the correct answer.
