Modal Verbs show us the attitude of the speaker to what is being said or done. The term "modal" means expressing mood and mood is a way to express the attitude of the speaker.

The given sentence expects a mood like something which is supposed to happen in present with respect to the daily schedule of past events.
Therefore, option A is the correct answer because it expresses what is supposed to happen in the present with respect to past events.
Whereas option B contains "could have" which suggests uncertainty in past actions and therefore it is not applicable in the sentence;
option C contains " can have" which suggests ability and therefore doesn't fit in the sentence ;
option D has "may have" which suggests possibility and as a result it doesn't support the mood of the sentence.
