Solution

x29−y236=1

y = mx ± 9m2−36

Tangent passes through (0, 3)

3 = ± 9m2−36

9 = 9m2 – 36

m = ± 5

Equation of PT

y=5x+3⇒−5x3+y3=1                              ….…(1)

Let P be (x1 , y1)

x x19−y y136=1                                                    ….…(2)

Comparing (1) & (2)

x19=−53⇒x1=−35

−y136=13 ⇒ y1 = –12,

∴ P (– 35, – 12)

∴ Required area =12×15×65=455 .
