Solution

H+ ion concentration in a solution of pH3 = 1 × 10–3 M H+ ion concentration in a solution of pH6 = 1 × 10–6 M
∴ change in [H+] = 1×1061×103 = 10–3 M
so H+ ion concentration decreases by 1000 times.
