Question

Two balls of masses m1 = 0.173 kg and m2 = 0.2 kg are moving and the direction of their motion is perpendicular to each other. Their speeds are v1 = 10 m/s and v2 = 5 m/s, respectively. After the collision the ball of mass m1 stops. What will the speed of the ball (in m/s) of mass m2 be after the collision?

m1v1+m2v2=m1u1+m2u2

0.173×10j^+0.2×5i^=0.2×u2

53i^+5j^v=10m/s
