A particle experiences constant acceleration for 20 s after starting from rest. If it travels a distance X1, in the first 10 s and distance X2, in the remaining 10 s, then which of the following is true ?

X1 = 2X2

Solution

distance travelled in first 10s is -

 X1=0+12×at12 

12 a. (10)2 = 50 a        .... (i)      

   

Velocity of particle at point B is

 V = 0 + a .10 = 10a         .... (ii)

Then distance travelled between B & C i.e. X2 in next  10 second.

X2 = V × 10 + 12 a (10)2 

= 10a × 10 + 12  a × 100 = 150 a    .... (iii)

From equation (i) & (iii), X2X1=150a50a=3 

X2 = 3x1
