A piece of wire with resistance R is cut into 4 equal parts.
Since, R α length of wire
Therefore, resistance of each part will be R / 4.
Now, these parts are bundled together. That means they are Joined in parallel.

$∴ \frac{1}{R_{eq}} = \frac{1}{R / 4} + \frac{1}{R / 4} + \frac{1}{R / 4} + \frac{1}{R / 4}$
