A piece of wire with resistance R is cut into 4 equal parts.
Since, R α length of wire
Therefore, resistance of each part will be / 4.
Now, these parts are bundled together. That means they are Joined in parallel.

1Req =1R/4+1R/4+1R/4+1R/4

⇒ Req = R / 16
