The vessel is filled to its half with mercury and an iron sphere is floating on the surface from point A in the direction of point B. When does the vessel tip over?

When the sphere is at mid point of A and B

When the sphere is at A

Solution

By Pascal's law, the pressure is disributed equally at all points.
So, probability of tipping is equal in all cases.
