An inverted sentence happens when we reverse (invert) the normal word order of a sentence structure, most commonly the subject-verb word order.
Option A is incorrect:  The sentence has the normal word order, subject (We) + verb (hardly arrived )  + object
Option B is correct:
the sentence has the word order: Adverb + auxiliary verb (Had) + subject (we) + main verb (arrived) + object + clause. The sentence has altered the normal word order.
Option C is incorrect: Words like 'h
ardly', 'barely', 'no sooner', and 'scarcely' are used at the beginning of inverted sentences.
Option D is incorrect:
The words are not altered in this fashion: 'verb + subject + object', but instead should be ordered in this manner: 'verb + object + subject'.
