Case - I :V = 16 volt

V₂ = 6 V then V₁ = 10 V

$I = \frac{10}{2 kΩ} = 5 \times 10^{- 3} amp .$

$I_{2} = \frac{6}{4 \times 1000} = 1 .5 \times 10^{- 3} amp .$

I₁ = (5 – 1.5) × 10^–3 amp.

Case – II :V = 10 volt

V₂ = 6 V & V₁ = 4 vol.

$I = \frac{4}{2 \times 1000} = 2 \times 10^{- 3} amp .$

I₁ = (2 – 1) × 10^–5 = 10^–5 amp.

Maximum Zener current is in Case-I that is 3.5 × 10^–3 amp.
