then speed = $\frac{x}{12}$ km/hr

In 2 hrs one bus covers = $2 \times \frac{x}{12} = \frac{x}{6} km$

Distance between the two buses at 5 p.m.

$x - \frac{x}{6} = \frac{5 x}{6}$

time taken to meet = $\frac{5 x / 6}{x / 12 + x / 12}$ = 5 hrs, after the 8 p.m. = 1 a.m.
