According to the definition of Euclid's theorem,

 a = b × q + r where  0 \leq r <  b.

225 = 135 × 1 + 90           [by Euclid"s algorithm]
135 = 90 × 1 + 45
90 = 45 × 2 + 0
∴ HCF of 135 and 225 is 45.

So, option D is correct.
